Many businesses are on the hamster wheel running their businesses and find themselves not having any time to organize or run their business. We applaud all of them for their efforts, it’s difficult to run a business, and most of them are profitable. But are they being as efficient as they should be? Back in the late 90’s early 2000’s, I once went to a brand new client where they had an employee sending a 10-page fax to 15 board members. That process would typically take 4-5 hours, with the occasional fax jam. We came in and installed Winfax, automated that fax job, and it would run in the background as that same employee was being productive doing other important tasks. Yes, that’s elementary today, but that example is relevant to what other inefficiencies we encounter in the business world. Just recently, a law firm was printing a PDF document to later scan it to the appropriate folder for the client. Again, a simple problem for most of us, (logically, we just do a right click save as on the pdf and save it where it belongs). Many times, some employees are doing 20% of what others are already doing, making it a redundant task, wherein the long haul, the company loses.
